Website accessibility

Use this website in the way that works for you

We want families, students, and community members to be able to find and use Main Street School information. Our technical target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work—not a one-time score or certification.

We support the accessibility settings built into your browser and device instead of asking you to turn on a separate website overlay.

Report an accessibility problem

Use the settings that already work for you

Browser and device settings follow you from site to site. These common controls may help you adjust this website without installing anything.

Make the page larger

Press Ctrl and + on Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS. Press Command and + on macOS. Press Ctrl or Command and 0 to return to the default size. You can also change page zoom from your browser menu.

Change colors or contrast

Your device's accessibility or display settings may offer contrast themes, color filters, dark appearance, inversion, or other color adjustments. The exact options depend on your device and browser.

Use a simpler reading view

If your browser offers Reader View or Reading Mode, it may let you reduce visual distractions and choose a more comfortable type size, font, spacing, or color.

Navigate with a keyboard

Press Tab to move forward through links and controls, and Shift + Tab to move back. Enter activates a focused link; Enter or Space activates a focused button. Press Escape to close an open menu.

The World Wide Web Consortium offers step-by-step guidance for different browsers and devices. Read its instructions for changing text size or colors.

How we work on accessibility

We build accessibility into the website's structure and interactions. Automated results cannot show whether every person can complete every task, so reports from people using the website remain an important part of our review.

Read the WCAG 2.2 standard

  • Semantic headings and labels
  • Keyboard navigation and visible focus
  • Meaningful image descriptions
  • Color contrast and reduced motion
  • Zoom, text resizing, and responsive reflow
  • Automated scans and human browser checks

Known limitation: the handbook

The available Student and Family Handbook is one long, image-based document. A searchable, screen-reader-friendly version is not yet available, and the full image may take a moment to open on a slower connection.

Open the handbook page to view or download the current file. Contact the school office if you need the handbook in another format or have a policy question.

Tell us what got in your way

If something on this website is difficult to find, read, understand, or use, please tell us. We will use your report to investigate the problem and identify another way to share the information when possible.

Details that can help us investigate

If you are comfortable sharing them, these details can help us understand the barrier:

  • The page address or page title
  • What you were trying to do
  • What happened instead
  • Your device, browser, or assistive technology, if relevant
  • The format or alternative that would help

You do not need to share a diagnosis or personal medical information to report a website problem.
